Web data is a very real problem facing customers today. Cyber-security is paramount in business today and with the GDPR legislation looming it is increasingly necessary to be able to identify and address data which is stored on devices and the used to identify the user in some way. Storing all this data is also problematic, greatly increasing profile storage space and impacting the user with increased logon times. Avanite produces software which directly addresses the issues with web data, removing all the data you don’t need and leaving just the data required by your business. The result is happier users with reduced logon times, improved security, and reduced infrastructure costs.
Ivanti Personalization Server is designed to both store and restore user data including web data from browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. These browsers store browsing history data, cookies, temporary internet files and DOM data which results in large web data databases and a large number of small files being stored in the Personalization database resulting in long logon and logoff times and increased storage costs.
Avanite WebData Control runs during logoff and tidies up web data prior to it being captured. It is configured via admx files so may be configured directly with Ivanti User Workspace Manager. Administrators can define exactly what data is to be kept, and what data is to be deleted. The large web data databases are cleansed and optimized and all redundant files on disk are deleted. Ivanti Personalization Server now stores only essential data – resulting in faster logon/logoff times, reduced storage requirements, and reduced network utilization. By actively targeting known marketing and advertising cookies WebData Control systems are cleaned of data which is used to track user behaviour and send data, including sensitive and confidential data, to third parties to businesses intent on gathering information to then sell on to other businesses.
